Before You Get Pregnant, Talk to Your Doctor
At Walnut Hill Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates, we are dedicated to helping our patients understand the benefits of good health before pregnancy for both maternal and fetal health. If you are planning to become pregnant, you must let your doctor know so that you will be best equipped for a healthy pregnancy. For couples concerned about carrying recessive genetic diseases due to their family history, we also offer Genetic Carrier Testing. Recessive genetic diseases, such as cystic fibrosis and spinal muscular atrophy, occur when the genes inherited from the mother and father carry specific mutations. Being screened for these risks before pregnancy allows expectant parents to explore alternate options, such as sperm or egg donors or adoption, or prepare for specialist prenatal care.
Exceptional Prenatal Care During All Three Trimesters
As soon as you discover you are pregnant, we encourage you to schedule your prenatal care at our Dallas pregnancy care center. We offer all antenatal care, including ultrasounds available in all three trimesters. For your peace of mind, we also offer non-invasive pregnancy testing for genetic errors (NIPT). This type of testing primarily looks for chromosomal disorders caused by missing or extra chromosomes, which include Down syndrome, Patau syndrome, Edwards syndrome, and others. NIPT is a form of screening, meaning it is used to predict whether your baby is at risk for genetic abnormalities. The results are not guaranteed, and follow-up testing is usually required to confirm the diagnosis. For the most accurate results, we do not suggest this screening until after the 10th week of pregnancy.
Special Care for Complications and High-Risk Pregnancies
Serious complications are fairly rare during pregnancy, but Walnut Hill OBGYN Associates can handle even the rarest complications or special needs. We are consultants with North Texas Perinatal Associates. Many Dallas women need medical assistance with later-life childbearing and prenatal care. We have extensive experience with the special reproductive health concerns of women over age 35. We also help women with a history of health problems to deliver healthy, full-term babies.
Miscarriages are heartbreaking but happen to many women. We help women who have a history of miscarriage, ectopic pregnancies, and molar pregnancies. You are not alone with the physical and emotional weight of this experience. Our compassionate staff believes in the importance of supporting women physically, emotionally, and spiritually throughout all stages of the pregnancy journey.

Our care is far from over at the end of your 40-week pregnancy. Our team is ready to be by your side during labor and delivery – whether you’ve opted for a vaginal birth or Cesarean section – to make your birth experience wonderful and unique.
