Dr. Sooyeon Choi values each patient as an individual and hopes to provide personalized care according to one’s needs and values. As an Ob/Gyn, she feels privileged to be able to care for women, the backbone of our society and life at its very origin. She loves to guide women through their physical and emotional transitions of adolescence, adulthood, motherhood, menopause and beyond. Given the intimate nature of women’s health, Dr. Choi aspires to be a good steward of the trust patients give her. She understands the anxiety associated with infertility, high-risk pregnancies, and gynecologic issues that require surgical intervention. To better serve her patients, Dr. Choi completed advanced training in minimally invasive surgical techniques as a fellow at THR Presbyterian Hospital at Dallas. Through the program, she gained expertise in robotic, laparoscopic, hysteroscopic, and vaginal surgeries to treat a wide range of conditions including uterine fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, ovarian cysts, pelvic organ prolapse, and cervical incompetence. After completing training, she has participated in numerous clinical trials as a principal investigator to help further advance women’s health.
Dr. Sooyeon Choi was born in South Korea but raised in Saudi Arabia and Bedford, Texas. She graduated magna cum laude in Biology from Smith College in Northampton, MA. Prior to starting medical school, she dedicated two years to clinical oncology research at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She moved on to receive her Medical Doctorate at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio under an academic scholarship. She subsequently completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. In her spare time, Dr. Choi enjoys running, swimming, playing with her golden retriever (Boomer), globe-trotting, participating in medical mission trips, and spending time with her family and friends.
